Celebrating Marged Higginson

We were delighted to celebrate Marged Higginson on January 25 with a recognition party for the many years she has served with Eastport Arts Center in fundamental ways.

Marged has been involved in the creative arts for much of her life, including a 30-year tenure  with a chorus that performed with the New Jersey Symphony and the opportunity to sing at Stephansdom in Vienna. After her travels domestic and abroad, she and her husband arrived in Eastport when the EAC was getting its start in the Masonic Building (now being renovated by the Tides Institute). Marged quickly folded into the EAC community and joined the quest to find it a proper home.

While a part of EAC, Marged was instrumental in developing The Concert Series and the Sunday Afternoon Series. She took special delight in welcoming children to the EAC, particularly when demonstrating the historic Tracker Organ with the assistance of Edward French and assisting with children's theater. In 2009, she founded the Festival of Trees, launching one of the community's favorite holiday gatherings. From theater to song and beyond, Marged helped make EAC what it is today.

After more than two decades of dedication, Marged is stepping back from the Board of Directors. Thank you, Marged, for helping to guide and support EAC for all these years! We truly could not have done it without you.

We wish you the very best moving forward and will enjoy seeing you whenever you attend an event (Sunday series or otherwise) at EAC.
