With a goal of involving those whose literary interests involve something other than poetry, the Literary Arts Program offers an opportunity for swashbucklers and wenches to tell their most piratical tales in hopes of seizing some treasure. Welcome to the first annual EAC Pirate Flash Fiction Contest.

We’ll be looking for short fictional narratives telling of piracy in port or on deserted islands or on the high seas or anywhere else you can imagine. Stories may be up to 1500 words in length, and must come to a resolution at the end. They must feature at least one pirate as a central character.

The top three stories will be awarded prizes. Stories will be published in an anthology which will be for sale locally during the 2026 Pirate Festival.

Check back to this page in January for the call for submissions, which will tell you how to format and submit your story. Our panel of judges looks forward to reading your tales.
