With the recent installation of a new laser projector for our upstairs theater, EAC is proceeding with scheduling a series of community-requested films for the upcoming late summer and fall seasons.
The first of these films is Georgia O'Keeffe: the Brightness of Light, showing at EAC on Sunday, August 9 (rescheduled from August 8) at 7 pm. The Brightness of Light illuminates the extraordinary life and lasting influence of an artist who reshaped the American art landscape. From her formative years in the Midwest to her groundbreaking rise in New York’s modernist movement, and finally to the vast, sun-drenched solitude of the New Mexico desert, the film traces O’Keeffe’s remarkable creative journey. Next is Canoe Dig It?, a comedy-mockumentary by filmmaker, model and actor Samuel Dunning that will be screening at EAC on Saturday, August 29 at 7 pm. Born and raised in Brunswick, Maine, Dunning created this well-received film in celebration of Maine and canoe culture. As a special bonus, Dunning will be joining us for a Q&A after the screening. The third film that has been firmed up is Mary Oliver: Saved by the Beauty of the World, documenting the life of America's best-selling poet, nature enthusiast and queer icon, Mary Oliver. It will be showing at EAC on Thursday, September 17 at 7 pm. Get tickets
There are other films currently in arrangement that we hope to annouce soon. If you have a film you'd like to see at EAC, reach out to us at info@eastportartscenter.org.
With deep gratitude to Charles R. Moore for his financial support of the EAC, which made the purchase of the new laser projector possible.
