Stage East is thrilled to announce a captivating lineup of plays currently in development for our 2026 season!
The first theatrical production, “Noises Off”, is a three-act farce that emphasizes physical comedy, while the second, “The Savannah Sipping Society”, tells the story of four Southern women over 50 who meet during a hot yoga class. Local plays and a 10-minute play contest are also planned for this season (stay tuned for more info!).

In “Noises Off” by Michael Frayn, the play takes its title from the theatrical stage direction indicating sounds coming from offstage. It’s a play within a play about a chaotic and inept theater company putting on a play called “Nothing On”. It’s a “play within a play” that uses physical comedy, slamming doors, and escalating disasters to show the humorous, behind-the-scenes antics of actors and crew as their personal relationships and professional lives unravel.
The play’s structure allows the audience to see a disastrous performance of the play from the front row in the first and third acts, while the second act shows the same performance from the backstage view, revealing the real life drama fueling the onstage chaos.
“Noises Off” will have a six- to eight-week rehearsal schedule beginning in late March with shows starting at the end of May. There will be nine total roles with four male actors, four female actors, and a stage manager required.

In “The Savannah Sipping Society”, a two-act comedy written by Jessie Jones, Nicholas Hope and Jamie Wooten, four women who meet by chance explore themes of discovery, friendship, and community. Specific messages center around how sometimes stepping out of your comfort zone every once in a while can help heal the pain of loss and make you realize that there’s no limit to what you can do, especially when you have a group of supportive friends at your side.
Rehearsals for “The Savannah Sipping Society” will begin in October and run six to eight weeks, with performances planned in the beginning of December.
Our planned events for 2026 are currently contingent upon the availability of suitable venues and the finalization of budgetary approvals. We are working closely with the board to secure the necessary resources to bring these exciting productions to life. We eagerly anticipate sharing more details in the coming days!
