Poetry Competition's Deadline Nears

There’s still time to enter the Eastport Arts Center’s 2025 Prize for Poetry Competition! This year’s theme is “Work,” defined as broadly as the poet chooses, with a deadline of May 31st, 2025.

The contest awards $900 in cash prizes across youth and adult divisions and will be judged without poet names attached by judges who are professional poets.

At the Poetry Celebration on Saturday, August 16th, prize-winners will be announced and all poets in attendance will be invited to read their poems. All submitted poems will appear in a professionally produced paperback anthology, which will be available at the event. Each poet will receive a complimentary copy and copies will also be available for purchase.

Former EAC Board member Charles “Chick” Moore established the prize to bring people together through the power of poetry, to help strengthen bonds within our communities, and to provide an outlet to those poets who may lack an arena to share their creative output.
