About the event
On Friday, May 1st and Saturday, May 2nd, 2026, you are invited to a free, hope-filled gathering called We are the Watershed. The aim of the gathering is to celebrate nature, to express eco-grief, and to spur collective action toward revitalizing the health of Peskotomuhkatikuk – the homelands and waters of the Peskotomuhkati [Passamaquoddy] Peoples. Humans are deeply connected with nature, harms to nature have rippling effects throughout our communities, and restorative actions create benefits for nature and humans alike.
We are the Watershed is a collective of environmental, arts, and Indigenous-led organizations working toward re-connecting humans with nature, to revitalizing the health of nature, waterways, estuaries, and the Bay in Peskotomuhkatikuk.
On Friday, May 1, the celebration begins with an opening welcome and the reveal of a publication of submitted community works. This quality, handbound publication is composed of visual and written pieces and will be available for sale with all proceeds submitting conservation and awareness efforts. Artists from around the area will be present to showcase an exhibition of physical works that will be on display through May 15.
On Saturday, May 2, a full day of speakers and events is planned. Upstairs in the theater, events (including featured speakers, film/clip screenings, and a theatrical production) will run between 10 am to 12 noon and 1 to 4:30 pm. Information booths will be arranged downstairs, along with a light lunch and refreshments.
All are welcome! With any questions, please contact Lura.
