The class will include lessons on the language of weaving, preparing the loom, plain weaving, using a cartoon, weaving shapes, blending and finishing. Supplies provided include a small tapestry loom, tapestry bobbins, binder clips, a tapestry needle and assorted yarns. Students should bring small scissors, notebook and pen or pencil for taking notes, and a fork.
Minimum three participants; maximum six.
About the Instructor
Thomas has been drawing since she could hold a pencil. She learned to weave in 1974, and it has become her passion. In 2016, after moving to Maine, she combined her love of drawing and her passion for weaving into an obsession for weaving tapestries. She has taken classes with well-known tapestry weavers, studied technique, woven tapestries large and small, and meets monthly with a tapestry feedback group. She looks forward to sharing her love of tapestry and weaving in general with others.
