About the event

Gregory Biss will present his popular annual program, Harpsichord Hour, on March 30 at 3 pm, for the Sunday Afternoons at the Arts Center series. The program will focus on Italian and German music from the 17th century and include discussion of the internal workings of the harpsichord.


Biss was born in Illinois and educated chiefly in New England and Germany. His compositions have been performed by the Denver Symphony, the Los Angeles Philharmonic, the Vermeer Quartet, Miriam Fried, Trond Saeverud, Lynn Brubaker, Vinko Globokar and Harry Sparnaay. Several of his works may be heard on the CD: Selected Music 1969-2009, released in 2009. Biss has been making music in eastern Maine since 1975, with sidelines as a commercial diver and piano tuner, and has been closely involved with the Eastport Arts Center since its inception.
