Exhibition opening: "Then & Now" by Tom McLaughlin

"Then and Now" - a show of works by Tom McLaughlin will be shown at the Washington Street Gallery at the Eastport Arts Center in the month of October. The artist will be at the gallery on October 10 from 3-5 pm to meet with visitors and discuss the work.

Tom McLaughlin may be better known as a radio personality for WQDY in Calais and WSHD-LP in Eastport, but that's only a part of his talents. Tom is also an artist and works in acrylics and pen and ink. Depending on the subject he may work in either medium - or both.

Originally from Boston, Tom has been an artist since his youth and has won numerous awards over the years and was a member of several art associations in Massachusetts including the Copley Society in Boston until he made Eastport his permanent home in 1989. Tom's works are in numerous collections, both corporate and private. He was one of the guest artists on a 1989 episode of the Maine Public Broadcasting network show "Painting in Maine" which was seen around the country on PBS. Tom was also one of the original artist members who established the Eastport Gallery in 1985 and was with the organization in its first ten years.
