About the event
Cellist Dan Allcott and pianist Gregory Biss are providing the kickoff event in our Summer Concert Series with a performance including pieces by Beethoven, Brahms, Cassado & Faure.
The program will be:
Cassado’s Solo Cello Suite
Beethoven’s Piano Sonata opus 110
Brahms’ Cello/Piano Sonata in e minor
Faure’s Elegy
Concert tickets are $20. A special 'Support EAC' ticket, $25, is available for those who would like to help the Arts Center sustain its slate of programming for all. No one will be turned away for lack of funds.

About the Performers

An Eastport summer resident and frequent performer on the EAC stage, Allcott maintains a busy career as a cellist, conductor, and teacher in Tennessee and Downeast Maine, and is on the faculty of SummerKeys in Lubec and the Tennessee Cello Workshop, Cellospeak, and Tapestry Cello Ensemble. Past Music Director of Atlanta Ballet, Tennessee Philharmonic and Oak Ridge Symphony, he maintains positions with the Bryan Symphony and as Professor of Music at Tennessee Tech. He regularly performs throughout the Southeastern United States and is active in the American String Teacher’s Association.
Biss was born in Illinois and educated chiefly in New England and Germany. His compositions have been performed by the Denver Symphony, the Los Angeles Philharmonic, the Vermeer Quartet, Miriam Fried, Trond Saeverud, Lynn Brubaker, Vinko Globokar and Harry Sparnaay. Several of his works may be heard on the CD: Selected Music 1969-2009, released in 2009. Biss has been making music in eastern Maine since 1975, with sidelines as a commercial diver and piano tuner, and has been closely involved with the Eastport Arts Center since its inception. One recent project has been revisions to his children’s opera, “You Can’t Sit Here,” first mounted at the Arts Center in March of 2024.
