Children's Summer Arts Camp

Engage your children with enriching activities at the EAC Summer Arts Camp! This year camp will run from Monday, July 6 through Wednesday, July 8, 10 am to 4 pm, with arts educator Danielle Meta leading the camp each day and music instructor Danny Holt joining the group for three hours every afternoon.

The themes of the camp include "Imagination Lab" and "Story Telling", with activities like making "adventure creatures" and animals out of recycled parts and found objects, beaded art, print making, homemade stickers and more. Ages 6 through 18 will be accommodated.

EAC will provide lunch and snacks during the three days of the camp.

As in previous years, this camp is offered by default at no cost - however, $45 must be paid in advance to secure your child's place. After the camp, unless you select otherwise when purchasing your ticket, the $45 will be refunded. Limited to the first 20 children to enroll (regardless of amount paid).

About the instructors

Danielle Metta, EAC's Arts Education and Outreach Coordinator, comes from a background in education and networking with recent experience as an educational technician at Washington Academy and Princeton Elementary School with arts classes and activities incorporated in her roles. Prior to that, she managed a retail boutique store based in Calais featuring work by area artisans. She completed her Associate’s degree in Education at WCCC and is working toward her Bachelor’s degree in Education through Western Governors University. Danielle guides EAC's arts outreach efforts in area elementary schools and organizes workshops that provide arts enrichment to all ages.

Danny Holt is a pianist, percussionist, and composer with more than 25 years of professional performing and teaching experience. Holt holds degrees from California Institute of the Arts, Hampshire College, Smith College, and Interlochen Arts Academy. Now based in East Machias, he previously lived in Southern California, where he maintained a busy private studio of piano students for over two decades. He was the chair of the music program at The Academy of Creative Education at the Oakwood School, and a Scholar-in-Residence at Harvard-Westlake School’s Kutler Center for Interdisciplinary Studies and Independent Research. Holt also taught at CalArts, Smith College, College of the Desert, Norco College, and the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute; and he performs and gives guest lectures at colleges and universities throughout the U.S. and abroad.
