Auditions: The Waterwoman

Calling all actors! Join us for this special performance combining local history and the theatrical arts into one special evening. "The Waterwoman" was written by Naphtali Leyland Fields-Forbes when she was an Island Institute Fellow. It grew out of a project in which she interviewed scores of people from Washington County and let them tell their stories of growing up in this area. Most of the participants were from Eastport and Sipayik. The stories within this play are those of real people that Naphtali simply brought to the page from her recorded interviews. Directed by Richard Sullivan and Jared Hagan.

This play will be performed as a STAGED READING, meaning no memorization is necessary. The auditions will be held on August 4, with rehearsals running September 1-3 at 6 pm and the performance taking place on Friday, September 4 at 6:30.

The roles being cast are:

Aidan - Male. 16-18.

Jimmy/Ben - Passamaquoddy. Male. 50s-60s.

Sarah - Female. 40s. Aidan’s mom.

Rita - Female. 60s.

Jordan - Passamaquoddy. Female. 20s.

Helen - Female. 60s.

Alice - Female. 70s-80s.

Charlie/Harry - Male. 70s-80s.

Meara - Female. 40s.
