General Manager—Job Posting

 

The Eastport Arts Center is seeking applicants for the position of General Manager.  The role is responsible for fundraising & development, human resource management and overall administration of the Eastport Arts Center’s operation.  The General Manager is a part-time position for 30 hours per week.

 

Qualifications and Desired Skills

 

  • Minimum of 3 years’ successful experience as an administrator, preferably in a non-profit organization

  • Minimum 3 years’ supervisory experience

  • Successful experience with developing sources of funding and obtaining and/or monitoring grants a plus

  • Proficiency with social media

  • Broad interest in the creative arts

  • Possesses strong and effective skills in developing positive, on-going relationships with key individuals, donors and organizations

  • Strong organizational and time management skills and a high level of computer proficiency

  • Results orientation

  • Good listener and communicator with strong writing and speaking abilities

  • Sense of humor

  • Understanding of tight-knit community dynamics

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with shifting priorities

  • Professional, with the requirement to practice discretion and confidentiality

 

Key Responsibilities

 

Strategy & Direction

  • Execute the EAC’s strategic plan in partnership with Programs Coordinator, staff and contractors

 

Financial & Human Resources Management

  • Work with the EAC’s Treasurer and bookkeeper to set up and maintain an effective financial operational infrastructure

  • Ensure all income and expenses are accurately reflected in the EAC’s financial statements

  • Prepare weekly income and expenses and Maintain purchase records

  • Disburse funds as required

  • With the EAC’s Personnel Committee, responsible for recruiting and hiring all full-time, part-time and contracted human resources.

  • Manage all full-time, part-time and contracted human resources; provide regular coaching, feedback and evaluation

 

Administration and Operations

  • Oversee facilities management and Manage rental bookings

  • Manage the EAC corps of volunteers

  • Set and manage EAC’s facility staffing schedule, ensuring that the facility is staffed during regularly scheduled hours

  • Manage the EAC postal box and e-mailbox, routing correspondence to the right party and responding where appropriate to all inquiries

  • Ensure that the EAC has all required licenses and permits

  • Manage operational contracts and partnerships

  • Develop and file all required federal, state and local documentation

  • Oversee the work of the Facilities Assistant

  • Oversee execution of agreed-upon maintenance and repairs

  • Ensure that all marketing, advertising and public relations materials and content are aligned with the EAC’s mission, vision, values and strategy

  • Collaborate with regional allies to extend EAC’s influence and effectiveness

 

Fundraising and Development

  • Provide oversight for the EAC’s contracted grant writer, ensuring that grant opportunities are identified and acted upon

  • Manage all grant, donor and sponsorship administration, measures, reporting and tracking

  • Manage relationships and correspondence with grantors, donors and sponsors

  • Provide data and reporting regarding grants and fundraising efforts

  • Execute key initiatives as well as donor and sponsorship programs, including appeals
