EAC to Screen Drag Comedy for Pride Month

Eastport Arts Center is pleased to present a special screening of the 1994 hit road comedy The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert, on Sunday, June 18 at 7 pm, timed to coincide with LGBT Pride Month. A beloved cult classic, the film received an Academy Award for costume design; British Academy Film (BAFTA) awards for costume design, makeup and hair; a GLAAD Media ‘Outstanding Film’ award; an Outfest Audience Award for Outstanding Narrative Feature; Golden Space Needle awards for best film and best actor from the Seattle International Film Festival; and production design and costume design awards from The Australian Academy of Cinema and Television Arts Awards (AACTA). In addition, the film was nominated for a Golden Globe for best actor; BAFTA’s original screenplay, production design, cinematography and actor awards; and best film, best direction, best screenplay, cinematography and original score, as well as two best actor awards, by the AACTA.

The film has an R rating. Tickets, $7, will be available for purchase at the EAC box office prior to the screening. This event has been made possible by a Maine Community Foundation Community Building Grant. A trailer for the film is viewable below!
